19RH-81 BROWN BESS MUSKET
Revolutionary War Era Officer’s style Fusil marked “G R” with crown at the center of the lock and “Tower” at rear. The stock is carved (Upside down) at left rear “T. Lincoln”. Our consignor obtained this Fusil in the bayarea in late 1960s when T. Lincoln’s effects were donated to the University but the guns were refused and sold by his heir. By tradition Lincoln was a high ranking officer in the British military which we could notdocument. This arm shows a 37” barrel of .69 smoothbore and is 52” overall. The swivels have been removed and the hammer is missing as is the brass fore end cap. The markings are light but visible. The plaque at the topof the wrist is engraved “E” over “37”. The stock shows swell at rear ramrod thimble and lazy “S” style side plate (Revolutionary War era). As found and uncleaned “In the black”. Should be further researched. With bayonetand scabbard along with brass oval buckle and partial strap. (Antique) Est.: $2000-$4000
