SCRIMSHAWED HORN SPOON. Once part of a headpiece, still retaining raised carved nib for attachment on one side of base, opposite side nib broken off and well patinaed showing it was gone for long time. Scrimshaw is very old showing raised edges around cuts in design. One side has 4 detailed reindeer with exaggerated antlers, other side has one reindeer and geometric design. 7" horn spoon has simplistic floral and "man-in-the-moon" scrimshawed. CONDITION: antler is well patinaed and very good, spoon deformed and has insect damage. PROVENANCE: Martin Lane Historic & Western Americana Lifetime Collection. (02-21634/JS). $500-700.
