Rare and Genuine 19th Century U.S. Patent Office Model ''Breech Loading Fire-Arm'', consisting of a full-size single-shot rifle breech measuring 11.25'' overall (incl. 2.375'' octagonal barrel) crafted of unfinished steel being die-stamped ''G. Zeller/Brevete'' (Patent) in four places, and fitted with a hinged operating lever with spur that drops open the breech when lowered for cartridge loading and auto-extraction, and an unusual 2-step trigger-like latching system but no trigger or firing device, along with a varnished walnut partial stock script-engraved on both sides, ''G. Zeller's breechloading fire arms system.'' Rifle breech is professionally and well-made, but lacking any Patent Office tags or other documentation. Condition of the model is fine, having light age frosting to the ''in the white'' unfinished steel and scattered age/handling marks to the wood. Est.: $200-$400.
