1) 2 PIECE CS. A fine example of an excavated “coin type” Confederate 2 piece belt plate. This plate is believed to have been made by Leech & Rigdon & is commonly associated with Tennessee troops. It is noted for its coin like center device & overall poor casting & construction. According to the consignor, this buckle was found in the Adairsville Camp where the Country Inn Motel is now located, just northeast of Rome, Georgia. CONDITION: buckle has an original dark excavated patina. There are no notable cracks, breaks or bends to the buckle.
2) CSA RECTANGLE. A very good example of an excavated rectangular CSA belt plate. This plate is commonly known as the Atlanta style. The face of the plate bears the initials, “C.S.A.” for Confederate States of America. According to the consignor, this plate was found near the Crow Valley in Dalton, Georgia. CONDITION: buckle has an original, dark excavated patina & is slightly bent. There are no hooks remaining on the reverse. (02-16650-1/BF). $3,500-5,000.
