BUTTONS.
1) A very fine example of a Confederate local Cavalry Roman “C” button. This button was utilized by Confederate Central Government Cavalry troops. Albert # CS-142-A. Face depicts a block Roman “C”. The reverse has a tinned iron back w/ a shallow depressed channel. The full straight shank is made of iron. CONDITION: detail remains quite sharp for this type of button. Brass has a mellow mustard patina. Back has a dark gray rich patina.
2) A rare example of a locally produced Confederate Georgia militia button. This button utilizes an iron face w/ a brass back. This button was produced locally during the Civil War. Albert # GA-10-A. Face depicts a rather naive interpretation of the State Seal of Georgia. The reverse is brass w/ a shallow depressed channel. The full straight shank is made of brass. CONDITION: face has a uniform dark patina w/ minor oxidation at the top of the button. Detail remains crisp for a local button. The brass back has a deep, rich, dark mustard patina.
