1) EUROPEAN CHILD’S FLINTLOCK FOWLER. Cal. 42. NSN. Bbl. 26 3/4" half rnd., fitted w/ brass rear & front sights & has unknown marks on top flat. Sm. flintlock w/ serpentine cock also features inset faceted pan, unbridled frizzen & friction spring w/ spear finial. Sm. sized walnut half stock (10 3/4" LOP) is mounted w/ relief brass trigger guard, heavy sideplate & buttplate. Stock also features swept right hand cheekpiece & sling loops. Steel ramrod mounts through single brass pipe soldered to bottom of bbl. & thimble. CONDITION: bbl. dark brown patina w/ silver highlights. Lock w/ extensive cleaning is mostly pewter gray. Bbl. & lock appear to be in original flintlock configuration. Stock retains old finish w/ a number of light & deep marks. Lock is operable. Rusted bore. (01-19767/MGM).
2) INTERESTING FULL STOCK GERMANIC RIFLE CONVERTED TO PINFIRE BREECH LOADER. Cal. 60. NSN. Bbl. 30". This early, high quality rifle has 30" oct. to rnd. bbl. which is very finely swamped between wedding band transition & muzzle. Pinfire conversion was done by fitting a special breechblock that pivots into recess at right & held by a thumb actuated catch. Block pivots on left side above deeply chamfered sideplate. Lock w/ matching plate has remnants of maker’s name & is fitted w/ unusual percussion type hammer w/ long extended nose to engage pinfire cartridge base. Breech iron is deeply cut away to allow loading. Germanic style full stock w/ wooden sliding patch box cover on right, extended to muzzle w/ horn cap. There are raised carved beads along bbl. & ramrod channels & nicely relief carved acanthus motifs behind thimble & in front of trigger guard finial. Stock is brass mounted w/ high relief trigger guard having scrolled grip & heavy buttplate engraved w/ family crest on tang. CONDITION: iron parts exhibit gray to brown patina over light pitting. Stock w/ some old, possibly original finish has extensive repairs at wrist. Brass furniture is nicely toned. Bore is good to very good w/ strong rifling, dark, but may clean. Lock is slip hammered.
