1) Cal. 6.5 Jap. S# 90207. Bbl. 19". S# match on bolt, receiver & bayonet lug. Receiver marked on left rail w/ Nagoya Arsenal marking. Receiver marked on top w/ characters for “Type 38”. Mum is crisp, but has 2 crossed chisel marks. Straight bolt handle w/ oval knob. Checkered, notched safety knob. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2000m. Inverted V front sight w/ protective ears. Cleaning rod is not present. Side sling swivels. Cup type buttplate. Hardwood stock set w/ 2 piece construction. CONDITION: original finish stock set has heavy wear, dents & scratches. Sm. crack on left side of butt at heel. Metal retains 60% original blue w/ thinning, wear, oxidation & scattered, shallow pitting. Good, shiny bore w/ worn lands. (20-2216/RW). 2) Cal. 6.5 Jap. S# 008177. Bbl. 19". Receiver is marked on left rail w/ interlocking circles indicated mfg. at Koshikawa Arsenal. Receiver ring has mum w/ 3 cuts. Crisp “Type 38” characters & additional Japanese character below mum that indicates rifle was withdrawn from service for school use. Nonmatching numbers throughout. Bolt has straight handle w/ oval knob. Checkered safety knob w/ sm. tang. Correct type unnumbered dust cover. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2000m. Inverted V front sight w/ protective ears. Cleaning rod is not present. Bayonet lug. Side sling swivels. Flat, steel buttplate. Hardwood stock set. Buttstock has 2 piece construction. Buttstock is numbered in cheek area “10”. Faint, red number “20” on right side of butt. Inside forward ends of grasping grooves painted green. CONDITION: stock set has wear, dents, scratches & staining throughout showing extensive service. Metal has 50% original blue w/ wear, oxidation & areas of fine pitting. Bore is shiny w/ worn lands. (20-2221/RW). BOTH CURIO. $600-800.
