NORTH OF MIDDLETOWN, CT. 1) 54 Cal. NSN. Bbl. 9 1/16". An early example of the M1816, probably produced in 1817-18. Round barrel with "US" & "P" on the left side. The lock is marked under the brass pan "S NORTH U (eagle) S MIDLN CONN." Iron trigger guard, buttcap, backstrap, double barrel band, and side plate. Walnut stock shows a light image of a cartouche and has a hickory ramrod with an iron ferrule threaded for cleaning & ball removal. CONDITION: all iron parts have been cleaned and appear mostly bright. Lock holds half cock only. Wood shows the usual dents & dings with a small crack extending from the left barrel channel to the side plate. The cock may be a correct replacement. Fair bore. 2) 54 Cal. NSN. Bbl. 9 1/16". A later example of the M1816, probably produced in 1819-20. Round barrel with "US" & "P" on the left side. The lock is marked under the brass pan "S NORTH U (eagle) S MIDLTN CONN." Iron trigger guard, buttcap, backstrap, double barrel band, and side plate. Walnut stock is clearly stamped "V" behind the side plate. Original hickory ramrod with an iron ferrule threaded for cleaning & ball removal. CONDITION: all iron parts have a medium gray, mottled patina. Lock holds both full & half cock.
