The model 1913 cavalry sword was designed by General George S. Patton & is commonly referred to as the “Patton sword”. It represents a technological leap forward concentrating on the thrusting power of cavalry rather than the hacking power. 1) Overall length: 44”. Blade length: 35 1/4”. Central fullered blade marked at the ricasso, “S(flaming bomb)A1914” & “US21051” on the other. Sheet steel guard. 2 Piece composite grip. Crosshatched palm rest w/ thumbprint. Iron mounted canvas covered scabbard w/ peg. Scabbard has 2 leather carrying straps at the top. CONDITION: blade has a medium gray finish. Hilt shows light to moderate wear. Scabbard shows average wear. 2) Overall length: 43”. Blade length: 35 1/4”. Central fullered blade marked at the ricasso, “S(flaming bomb)A1914” & “US10000” on the other. Sheet steel guard. 2 Piece composite grip. Crosshatched palm rest w/ thumbprint. Iron mounted canvas covered scabbard w/ no peg. CONDITION: blade shows light wear w/ some spotted discoloration & evidence of light sharpening. Hilt shows moderate wear. Scabbard shows average wear. (02-13651(2)/BF). $800-1,400.
