CLEANING TOOLS.
1) SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1842 FORAGER CONVERSION. Cal. bored to 75. NSN. Bbl. is shortened to 33" w/ bead front sight. 1853 Dated Springfield lock. Stock is shortened to forager length w/ 1 remaining band. Iron fittings Trumpet tipped iron ramrod held by single solder attached pipe. CONDITION: cleaned gray metal shows dents & marks & pitting in breech area. Modern replacement nipple. Functioning lock. Stock shows heavy wear & handling marks w/ wood erosion above lock plate. Dark pitted bore. (01-19469/DS).
2) COMPOSITE. Cal. 65. NSN. Bbl. 41" oct. to rnd. w/ faceted transition & German silver blade front sight. Bolster style conversion. "R. ASHMORE / WARRANTED" engraved trade lock. Plain trigger. Half length walnut stock. Plain brass fittings include buttplate, trigger guard, side plate escutcheon & thimble. Broken hardwood ramrod held on iron under rib by 2 iron pipes. CONDITION: metal has dark patina appearance w/ pitting in breech area. Functioning lock. Sanded & refinished wood show scattered handling marks w/ sm. crack at side plate escutcheon. Dark pitted bore. (01-19478/DS).
3) This lot consists of 4 ramrods for muzzle loading rifles or muskets, 2 of which appear to be for Enfields, 1 likely for an early military musket & another for an undetermined longarm. The 2 cleaning tools are simply long metal rods. CONDITION: all rods show light wear overall. The early musket cleaning rod may be of 20th century mfg. (02-15383/BF). ALL ANTIQUE. $550-850.
