1) FLINTLOCK ROMAN NOSE RIFLE WITH FANCY BRASS PATCHBOX. Cal. 35. NSN. Bbl. 36" oct., semi buckhorn rear & brass sights. Plain trade lock has serpentine cock & bridled friction frizzen. Plain maple full stock is pinned to bbl. & extends to muzzle w/ 1 1/2" brass cap. Brass crescent buttplate has 2 1/4" iron return. Patchbox on right side is 1 piece except for cover & has piercings on flanks & cocks comb type finial. On left side there is a lunate mother of pearl inlay under sm. fluted cheekpiece. Brass trigger guard has finger spur at rear of grip. Hickory ramrod is held by one beaded pipe. Thimble is missing. CONDITION: fair to good. Bbl. cleaned to silver & gray w/ considerable pitting. Touch hole has been bushed. Lock is most likely a later replacement that fits well. Smooth bore is considerably pitted. Lock operates. (01-19022/MGM). 2) PERCUSSION RIFLE WITH ASHMORE LOCK. Cal. 32. NSN. Bbl. 38" oct., w/ low semi-buckhorn rear & brass bead front sights, unmarked. Percussion lock w/ stamped scroll engraving marked "Ashmore". Double set triggers are fitted. Full stock of curly maple is pinned to bbl. & ends w/ 2" brass nosecap. Brass crescent shaped buttplate has 2" return. Faceted trigger guard has finger spur at rear. Ovate patchbox is nicely engraved & has fancy shaped finial. Sideplate is of elongated diamond shape. A hickory ramrod is held by 2 beaded pipes & matching thimble. CONDITION: good, iron parts mostly dark brown patina w/ considerable pitting. Stock w/ old oil refinish has some cracks behind bbl. tang on both sides w/ old pin repairs. Brass is toned to light gold. Fair to good bore. Strong rifling. Lock & triggers are operable. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti. (01-19024/MGM). BOTH ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,800.
