2 US ARMY HELMETS & 1 JAPANESE ARMY HELMET.
1) WWI. A nice example of a US M1917 helmet with a 78th Infantry Division insignia painted on the left side. Helmet has a field green painted finish, and the 78th insignia shows a white lightning bolt on a red field. Black liner/sweatband & brown chinstrap. CONDITION: helmet shows moderate wear overall and has 3 small holes drilled in the right & left edges of the helmet. 2) WWII. A very fine example of a US M1 early WWII helmet with a front seam & a fixed bale. Helmet has a lightly sanded field green finish covered by a field green cotton net. Correct WWII liner & khaki cotton chinstrap. CONDITION: helmet shows light wear overall with nearly all the finish intact and light overall wear to the liner. 3) JAPANESE. A WWII Japanese Army helmet with a light brown & dark field green painted finish. There is a yellow painted star on the front of the helmet that may have been repainted in the post-war period. There is a brown leather 6-tongue, 3-pad liner together with light green cotton web straps. CONDITION: helmet has seen more than one coat of paint during the war, giving it a mottled appearance. There is a small crack at the edge on the left side of the helmet. The liner generally shows light wear. Much of the surface of the metal has an oxidized patina. (02-19010/BF). $500-700.
