1) GEW 98 MAUSER. Cal. 8MM Mauser. S# 5143. Bbl. 29". All visible numbers matching. Receiver is marked on left rail in gothic “GEW 98”. Receiver ring marked on top “DEUTSCHE WAFFEN-UND MUNITIONSFABRIKEN BERLIN 1915”. Marked over chamber w/ “S”. Lange rear sight graduated to 2000m. Inverted V front sight. Cleaning rod is present. H type upper band retains parade hook. Bottom swivels. detachable butt swivel is not present. Matching walnut stock set w/ unmarked steel identity disk on right side & German crown acceptance marks. CONDITION: stock has professional type refinish w/ light wear & handling marks. Buttstock has been broken off at the wrist & been repaired w/ glued joints & inletted wood filler pieces. Metal has been cleaned, retaining traces of original blue turning gray. Receiver, which was in the white, turning overall gray & patina. Fair, worn bore turning dark in grooves. (20-1990/RW). 2) BERTHIER MODEL 1907/15. Cal. 8mm Lebel. S# 65039. Bbl. 31 1/2". Numbers match on bbl., bolt & trigger guard. Receiver is marked on left side w/ script “Chatellerault”. Bbl. is marked over chamber w/ “JH”. Marked on right side “NA C 1915”. Straight bolt handle. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2400m. Blade front sight. Stacking rod is present. Walnut stock. Vintage, unmarked leather military sling w/ replaced keeper. CONDITION: stock has professional restoration, including inletted repairs on right side of butt, right side of action above trigger guard & left side of forend below grasping groove. Numbers are partially obscured w/ wood filler at butt. Metal has been cleaned w/ traces of blue turning gray w/ light wear overall. Good shiny bore w/ sharp lands. (20-1992/RW).
