1) CAVALRY. Overall length: 39 3/4". Blade length: 34". Plain, single fullered blade stamped at the ricasso, “CARL EICKHORN (squirrel) SOLINGEN”. Gilded brass hilt w/ crossed sabers on the front languet. Knuckle bow & backstrap are ornately decorated w/ oak leaves & acorns. Plain pommel. Leather & silver bullion sword knot attached. Black enameled metal scabbard. CONDITION: blade shows substantial original factory polish. Hilt retains 85% original gilding. Grip & wire are complete. Knot shows light wear. Scabbard has minor finish loss particularly near the drag. (02-15001 /BF). 2) STAFF OFFICER. Overall length: 39". Blade length: 32 1/2". Single fullered blade etched over half its length w/ various patriotic, military & foliate motifs. Gilded brass hilt w/ crossed swords, polearms & wreath on the front languet. The base of the crossguard is stamped, “GESCHUTZTES MUSTER”. Knuckle bow is ornately decorated w/ oak leaves & acorns. Backstrap has allegorical motifs terminating in a well articulated lion head pommel w/ faceted red eyes. Leather & silver bullion sword knot. Black anodized metal scabbard. CONDITION: blade shows substantial original factory polish. Etching is quite crisp. Hilt retains much of the original gilded finish. Faceted eyes are undamaged. Grip shows light wear. Knot shows moderate wear. Scabbard retains nearly all of its anodized finish w/ minor wear concentrated near the drag. (02-15003/BF). $600-900.
