1) ARTILLERY. Overall length: 38". Blade length: 31". Plain blade with a single wide fuller. Ricasso is stamped with a shield shaped maker's mark under the languet. Gilded brass hilt with crossed cannons on the front languet. Ornate knuckle bow with lion's head pommel featuring red eyes & having an equally ornate backstrap. Wire wrapped composite over wood grip. Plated iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade retains a fine polish but has several nicks to the edge & some minor oxidation spots. Hilt shows light to moderate wear with only traces of gilding remaining. Grip is 95%+. Wire appears complete. Scabbard plating is about 60%.
2) CAVALRY. Overall length: 38 1/8". Blade length: 32 1/4". Plain blade with a single fuller. Blade is stamped near the ricasso, "(logo)E. PACK & SOHNE SOLINGEN". Gilded brass hilt with crossed sabers on the front languet. Ornate oak leaf & acorn knuckle bow with lion head with lion's head pommel featuring red eyes & having an equally ornate backstrap. Wire wrapped composite over wood grip. Black enameled scabbard. CONDITION: blade retains a fine polish. Hilt shows light to moderate wear with traces of original gilding remaining. Grip shows moderate wear with 1 notable separation. Scabbard retains 85% finish. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Jack Verret Sr. (02-16477/BF). $400-600.
