2 WWII GERMAN DAGGERS.
1) RAD HEWER. Overall length: 15 3/4". Blade is marked, “RJAD” in triangle & “GES. GESCH.”. Plated hilt w/ eagle effigy pommel. 2 Piece horn grips. Black enameled metal scabbard w/ plated mounts. CONDITION: blade appears to have been buffed & chrome plated. The blade has been ground and buffed to the point that the motto is all but erased. Hilt & scabbard mounts also appear to have been chrome plated. Scabbard body has likely been repainted black.
2) NAVY. Overall length: 16 1/2". Blade is marked, “F.W. HOLLER SOLINGEN (thermometer)”. Blade is etched w/ naval & foliate motifs. Crossguard & pommel appear to be plated white metal. Wire wrapped, off white colored grip. Gilded brass scabbard of standard Navy design. CONDITION: blade appears to have been heavily buffed nearly removing the maker’s mark & erasing some of the etching. Crossguard & pommel have also been buffed removing much of the gilding. Grip is cracked near the base & pommel does not tighten properly making entire hilt loose. Scabbard has a few very shallow dents & is missing 1 screw. PROVENANCE: Collection of Brian C. Pinkerton.
