2 WWII GERMAN DEUTSCHE ARBEITSFRONT VISOR CAPS.

1) DAF SQUAD LEADER. A seldom seen example of a higher ranking official’s DAF cap for a Rottenfuhrer. The crown is very dark blue wool & the band appears to be black rayon with an oak leaf & vine patterned design throughout. The piping is the same as the crown material. The chinstrap is silver bullion terminated in 2 sm. aluminum pebble finished buttons. The eagle is an early style & the wreath is well done silver bullion with a central plated DAF design. Composite visor is black on top & brown on the underside. Sweatband is light brown with a green edging. Side lining appears to be white cotton & the orange crown lining has a coated finish. Sweatshield is missing. CONDITION: crown shows minor moth tracks. Sweatband has 2 tears. Crown lining has torn along the stitch lines of the missing sweatshield
2) DAF MEMBER. A visor cap as worn by regular members of the DAF. The crown is very dark blue or black wool & the band appears to be black rayon with an oak leaf & vine pattern design throughout. The cap was made without piping. The chinstrap is black plastic with 2 rectangular buckles & is terminated by 2 plain black buttons. The DAF insignia is gold thread embroidered on a black field with a gilded brass frame. Visor is a composite material likely of leather/cloth with a black finish on the top & a patterned brown/black finish on the underside. Gray sweatband with a blue liner. Sweatshield is marked, “Die gute blaue Mutze (ship logo)”. CONDITION: cap shows overall light wear with some crazing to the visor. DAF insignia is solid & undamaged. Interior shows heavy sweat stains & wear to the sweatshield. (02-16647-1(2)/BF). $700-1,100.
