20 GA. MERIDIEN-REMINGTON TRANSITIONAL PARKER
DHE SHOTGUN WITH STRAIGHT GRIP STOCK AND ACME STEEL BARRELS. Cal. 20 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 236109. Bbl. 26". This attractive Parker has 26" bbls. marked with Parker’s name, address and “ACME STEEL” on slightly raised concave matted rib. Bbl. flats are stamped with Parker proofs, Acme Steel mark, and Remington repair date code for Jan. 1939. There is also a sun stamp and initials “HT” over “A”. Lumps are stamped with normal S#, Ga. and frame size “0”. Cyanide case colored action features automatic safety and nickel plated dbl. triggers. Water table is stamped “PARKER BROS.” and with patent dates, grade markings “DH”, and “3” (Parker gun identification and serialization register lists this gun as a D Grade having titanic bbls. and a straight grip stock). Action is engraved in Parker’s late "D" style with 80% coverage varying size scroll surrounding single dogs on sides, without borders. A setter is on left and pointing pointer on right. It’s interesting to note that “PARKER BROS” is neither on the bottom of the action or on sides. Trigger plate is engraved with usual group of 4 pheasant; 3 flying, 1 standing. Trigger guard with scroll on bow has S# on tang. Very nicely crotch figured American walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 3/16" over blued skeleton buttplate. Stock features lozenge shaped drop points. Checkering on buttstock is a fancy pattern as normally found on Grade "C" guns. A silver oval on toeline is engraved “W.A.F.”. Matching splinter ejector forend with usual steel tip has patent date on iron. “The Parker Story” estimates that fewer than 500 guns were made in this Ga., grade and bbl. length combination. Likely very few with straight grip stocks. MEASUREMENTS: bore dia. left .616, right .615. Restriction: left .009 (IC), right .003 (IC). Min. Wall Thickness: left .025, right .027. DAH 2 1/2".
