2024 New Mexico Unit 13 Archery Elk Landowner Voucher:
This auction is for a New Mexico Unit 13 archery elk unit-wide landowner voucher. Unit 13 is designated as a “Primitive Weapons” unit in New Mexico, meaning the elk are never rifle hunted. This has led to the unit becoming one of the premier elk hunting destinations in the Western United States to harvest a trophy bull. Bulls simply grow older when they are not rifle
hunted and the bull:cow ratio is very high.
Hunters should expect to target bulls in at least the 320”-340” range but trophy bulls well above this caliber exist in the unit every year. On multiple occasions during the past several years, the seller of this voucher has observed bulls of the 370”-390” caliber on public land during the hunting season.
When compared to traditional elk hunting terrain, the physicality of this hunt is relatively mild, especially when considering the trophy caliber of the animals available. This is one of the largest hunting units in New Mexico (approximately 70 miles wide by 65 miles long), so the
terrain is varied, and hunters can expect to encounter elk at altitudes of 5000’-8000’. This is a high desert unit, with a lot of juniper and pinon flats to chase bugling bulls. The unit is also interspersed with multiple mountainous areas to chase bulls at higher elevations. Within the
unit are several Native American Reservations (not accessible to the winner of this voucher). The Acoma Reservation is in the center of the unit and is considered one of the best elk hunts in the world to harvest a 400”+
bull, and many of these elk travel between public and Reservation lands, giving public land hunters an opportunity at some of the largest bulls in the United States.
This auction is for a unit-wide voucher. The winner of this auction will use the voucher code to purchase their Unit 13 elk hunting tag from the State of New Mexico for approximately $800. A short PDF tutorial will be provided to the winning bidder to guide them through the process of redeeming the landowner voucher on the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish website for an elk hunting tag.
The hunter can choose to archery hunt from September 1-14, 2024 or from September 15-24, 2024. The hunter may only choose one of those date ranges, not both.
Unit-wide tag holders can hunt any public land in the unit where hunting is allowed. Just as important, unit-wide tag holders also have access to ALL private land ranches that participate in the New Mexico unit-wide landowner tag program. The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish has traditionally provided an interactive map of participating ranches in August before each hunting season. In unit 13, participating “unit wide” ranches comprise tens of thousands of additional acres of land that can be hunted by the tag holder.
New Mexico Unit 13 is a great DIY hunt for trophy bulls. Unit 13 has excellent road access for off road vehicles. The unit also has several very reputable outfitters should the winning bidder wish to hire a guide. Due to the size of this unit, and the very limited overall number of tags, it is easy to hunt without encountering pressure from other hunters.
Statistically through the general state lottery, a nonresident hunter would draw a second season archery tag in unit 13 approximately once every 50 years! By purchasing this voucher, you can hunt in 2024.
This is likely one of the last opportunities to acquire a top tier western elk hunting tag for the 2024 season.

Landowner voucher code will be sent via express mail envelope (UPS, Fedex or USPS) to the address associated with the winning bidder's registered credit card. We cannot ship to alternative addresses so please use a credit card associated with a convenient shipping address.

Any bid made at a Landowner Tag LLC auction, whether in person at a live auction, by phone, or online, constitutes an unconditional offer to buy the item in question at the price bid plus buyer’s premium, taxes and, where applicable, credit card processing fees. Unless a higher and subsequent bid is made, your bid creates a binding contract of purchase, and obligates you to complete the auction purchase by making a timely payment for the total amount of the auction plus buyer’s premiums, taxes and, when applicable, credit card processing fees. LANDOWNER TAG LLC AUCTION ITEM POLICY:
Buyer agrees that they are purchasing a landowner voucher that will enable them to purchase an elk hunting tag from the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish for the specified hunting unit and hunting method (archery, muzzleloader or rifle) and specified hunting dates. Buyer understands they will need to choose one specified hunt date range from several date ranges provided by New Mexico Game and Fish but that they may not hunt all date ranges. Buyer understands they must purchase this tag and any additional required habitat stamps or permits required to legally hunt elk in New Mexico from the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish. Landowner Tag LLC is not responsible for any personal or financial injury incurred in the process of the elk hunt. Landowner Tag LLC is not responsible for the successful harvest of an elk during the associated elk hunt. This landowner voucher does not include any guide/outfitting services and does not guarantee the successful harvest of an elk. Purchaser/hunter is required to follow all New Mexico Game and Fish laws, rules and regulations and it is not the responsibility of Landowner Tag LLC to educate the hunter on applicable laws, rules and regulations. Landowner Tag LLC is not responsible for any infractions of New Mexico elk hunting laws, rules or regulations by the hunter using the purchased landowner elk voucher.
Once full payment is received and successfully deposited, a landowner voucher code will be sent to the winning bidder via a trackable express mail delivery (USPS, UPS or Fedex). The landowner voucher will only be sent to the address associated with the winning bidder’s credit card that was verified through the AVS (address verification system). Buyer may not request to have the landowner voucher delivered to an alternate address.
