2026 NORTH DAKOTA ROCKY MOUNTAIN BIGHORN SHEEP LICENSE – ND G&FD
All proceeds of this sale are returned to the ND Game & Fish Department for bighorn sheep management. The statewide license is open to residents and non-residents, non-transferable, and valid only during the 2026 season, which runs from Oct. 28 – December 31, 2026. Success rates are typically 100%, but hunters should be aware that guiding and outfitting are prohibited on all public lands in the state. Therefore, hunters should plan on several days of scouting prior to their hunt. This year’s fortunate hunter will follow in the footsteps of Theodore Roosevelt as he or she pursues a bighorn sheep in the badlands of North Dakota. Harvesting a ram in the 170s plus is typical with some larger available. The largest bighorn ram taken in 2025 was 197 4/8” and a new North Dakota state record. North Dakota has truly made its mark in recent years, with becoming an amazing success story in wild sheep conservation A 5% buyer’s premium will be applied to the auction price by Midwest Chapter WSF for wild sheep conservation.
