27 CIVIL WAR ERA FEDERAL & UNION STATE BUTTONS.

1) 13 Union state issued buttons. All of these coat buttons date to the Civil War era & were worn by volunteer state troops in service of the Union. Most, but not all, depict the State Seal of the state of issue. All backmarks are of the Civil War period or earlier. States included are New Jersey (NJ-7-TYPE), Wisconsin (WC-1-C), New York (NY-30), Vermont (VT-9-A), Rhode Island (RI-8-A), Maine (ME-1-TYPE), Massachusetts (MS-35-TYPE), Pennsylvania (PA-18-TYPE), Michigan (MG-4-C), (2) New Hampshire (NH-6-A & NH-6-C), Connecticut (CT-13-A) & California (CF-1-A). All buttons have full straight shanks. CONDITION: buttons generally have most, if not all, of their original gilded finish.
2) 14 Union federally issued buttons. All of these buttons are coat size unless stated otherwise & date to the Civil War era or earlier. They were generally worn by Federal troops in service of the Union. Most depict some form of the American eagle w/ different branch designations. Buttons included are Marine Corps (MC-9-B), Navy (NA-113-TYPE), Rifleman (RF-19-E), (2) Engineer (EG-3-B & EG-6-D), Dragoon (DR-4-A5), Cavalry (CV-1-B2), (2) Artillery (AY-79-A7 & AY-71-A), (2) General Service (GI-94-TYPE & GI-94-CUFF), Infantry (GI-88-B2), General Service (GI-94-TYPE TENT HOOK) & General Staff (GS-8-TY).
