Rancho Vedado is the perfect getaway located in Irion County Mertzon, Texas, which is situated in the heart of west Texas brush country. This area also provides some of the finest free-range whitetail and Rio Grande Turkey hunting you will find anywhere. Success rates on whitetail and turkey is 90% or better. If you are interested in this type of hunt, you will need to plan early. These are popular hunts, and tend to get booked up well in advance. Any travel expenses to and from the ranch are the hunter(s) responsibility. Access to the ranch is easy, so the hunter's regular driving vehicle will be sufficient. OR IF THE PARTY IS FLYING, probably the easiest route to the ranch would be to fly to Midland or San Angelo, Texas and rent a car. The ranch is 45 minutes south of San Angelo. Shuttle service is also available from the airport in San Angelo ($50 round trip for 2) and from Midland Airport ($150 round trip for 2). Hunt can be taken with weapon of choice. Each hunter can pick a Mouflon, Axis Deer or Blackbuck Antelope. If blood is drawn, it is considered a kill, and the hunt is over. We will do everything we can to help locate a wounded animal. Hunter can elect to continue his/her hunt at normal list pricing. Hunters should note that the exotic hunting is not a “canned” hunt. Hunting is on the rugged part of the ranch known as the badlands. Hilly, very rocky, arroyos, and covered with cactus and thick brush, this terrain offers many places for animals to hide. Hunting is from strategically placed blinds on hilltops or over feeders and waterholes. The hunts dates are from May 2017 to October 2017 and include a full 3 days of hunting. This is a 2x1 guided hunt. Our mouflon and blackbuck are above average to exceptional quality trophies. Just ask some of our recent hunters, and check out our photos. This hunt can be upgraded to include a Scimitar Oryx per price list. Hunter will need to purchase a 5-day OTC hunting non-resident special license ($48). Field preparation (skin/cape) are included. Trophies can be taken to a local taxidermist for processing or bring your own coolers and take your trophy when you leave. Accommodations and meals are included in a great lodge with an “Old West” style and a great view. You can also enjoy billiards, horseshoes, big screen TV, campfire pit, and target range.
