3 EARLY LOCK MECHANISMS FOR MUSKETS.
1) A large Queen Anne era doglock mechanism measuring approx. 8" x 4". The lock has partially discernable decoration on the lock plate as well as the cock. Although, no words are legible. At the upper inside of the lock is a marking that appears to read "OI". CONDITION: the lock has a gray, lightly pitted patina. The pan shows oxidation with minor losses. The lock itself appears to function well. 2) A medium-size Spanish miquelet lock measuring approx. 4 1/2" x 3". The lock appears to be unmarked both inside & out. CONDITION: the lock has a dark gray patina with very minor areas of pitting. The lock appears to function well. 3) A circa 1815 flintlock mechanism measuring approx. 6 1/4" x 4". The lock shows Spanish influence and is marked on the outside with a crowned "M" possibly indicating ownership by Mexico. The inside of the lock has several cryptic markings including a crowned "R", script "P", and other smaller arsenal type marks. CONDITION: the lock has a slightly oxidized light gray finish and does not appear to operate easily. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of James B. Taylor. (02-19915-2/BF). $700-1,000.
