3 EXCEPTIONALLY LARGE PIECES OF TRENCH ART.
This group of trench art includes a large German battleship shell measuring 57 1/2" by approx. 7” across. The projectile is chrome plated and the entire brass shell is heavily embellished with repoussé work. The other 2 shells are 47 1/2” high and have their projectiles intact. They have been repurposed into decorative lamps, and the entire brass shell bodies have been decorated in various methods using metal plating & repoussé work. CONDITION: the largest shell shows light overall wear. One lamp has a broken arm that should be repairable. The other lamp likely needs wiring repair. Neither lamp should be considered safe to use in their current condition. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18703-2/BF). $500-800.
