3 FINE 1930’S TO WWII HIGH GRADE OFFICER’S HATS.

1) WWII GENERAL. A khaki general officer’s hat dating from the late 1930’s to WWII. The hat is khaki all over w/ a lg. gold American eagle on the front. Brown chinstrap & visor. Full sweatband marked on the side, “Gen. Dager 5013”. General Dager was a Major General from New Jersey & had many assignments prior to WWII. During WWII, he was in charge of the 41st Armored Infantry then commanded the 8th Armored Division. Subsequently he joined the 4th Armored Division & participated in the March to the Rhine. Upon approaching the Rhine, he & General Patton approached the water & Patton spit into the Rhine. He turned & remarked, “Dager, I’ve been waiting 3 long years to spit in this creek.”. In March of ’45 he was promoted to Major General. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross & Distinguished Service medal along w/ numerous other decorations. CONDITION: hat shows very light wear overall.
2) WWII GENERAL. A full dress engineer officer’s cap belonging to Brigadier F. B. Butler & dating from the late 1930’s to WWII. Hat has a black crown w/ a gold bordered, red & white grosgrain band. Embroidered gold bullion eagle adorns the front of the hat. Gold chinstrap w/ black visor. Full sweatband. Interior sweatshield reads, “TRADEMARK A.H. DONDERO, INC. 730 – 17TH ST. N.W. WASHINGTON, D.C.”. A red & white paper tag on the inside reads, “BUTLER”. CONDITION: hat shows very light wear overall.
3) 1930’S OFFICER. A full dress field grade artillery officer’s hat dating to the 1930’s. Hat has a black crown w/ a gold bordered, red grosgrain band. Gold chinstrap w/ black visor embroidered w/ gold bullion oak leaves & acorns. Full sweatband. Hat is marked in the crown, “LILLEY CO”. CONDITION: exterior of hat shows light wear. Sweatband is a bit detached in spots. Interior crown has a bubbled surface likely due to excessive hair dressing products. (02-15775/BF). $500-800.
