3 INDO-PERSIAN EDGED WEAPONS.
1) INDO-PERSIAN DAGGER. Overall length: 18”. Blade length: 12”. A beautiful silver inlaid dagger likely originating in northern India in a style similar to a Khanjar. Curved blade has a beautiful forging pattern w/ an etched diamond shaped floral design on 1 side. Iron 1 piece hilt w/ silver damascene decoration. Iron scabbard w/ similar silver damascene floral & geometric decoration. CONDITION: dagger shows very light wear overall. (02-13559/BF). 2) JADE HILTED KHANJAR. Overall length: 15 1/2". Blade length: 10”. Iron blade w/ an interesting forging pattern. Gold inlaid decoration extends 1 1/2" up from the hilt. Lg. 2 1/2" iron ferrule/grip is similarly inlaid w/ gold floral decoration. The top 3 1/4" of the hilt is exquisite dark green carved jade. There are 2 red stones set in silver on either side of the pommel. There is a missing stone, presumably red, w/ a silver setting at the tip of the pommel. No sheath. CONDITION: blade has a medium dark patina & shows smooth oxidation. Gold inlay is nearly completely intact. Jade has a few minor scuffs & scrapes. 1 Red stone missing. (02-13562/BF). 3) KILIJ TYPE SABER. Overall length: 32 1/4”. Blade length: 27”. An early all iron kilij, quite possibly of Indian origin. The overall look of the sword compares favorably w/ Turkish examples but the decoration of the blade is decidedly Indian. Single fullered blade w/ a swelled tip extending 8 1/2". Most of the blade is decorated in what appears to be Sanskrit w/ areas of foliate & vine decoration nearer the hilt. Classic hilt form shows vestiges of silver inlay. No scabbard. CONDITION: sword has an overall dark patina. Blade decoration is easily discernible. 1 Side of the guard is a bit bent. Sword shows significant wear commensurate w/ it’s great age but surprisingly no significant damage. (02-13564/BF). $800-1,200.
