1) TYPE 38 RIFLE W/ "DUFFLE CUT" STOCK. Cal. 6.5 Jap. S# 43585. Bbl. 31". Nonmatching numbers. Receiver is marked on left rail w/ Koshikawa Arsenal marking. Receiver ring marked on top w/ intact mum & “Type 38” characters. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2400m. Inverted V front sight w/ protective ears. Cleaning rod is not present. Straight bolt handle w/ oval knob. Checkered sm. tang safety knob. Hardwood buttstock has 2 piece construction. Handguard is not present. Forend has "duffle cut" at lower band & is separated. CONDITION: stock has heavy refinish w/ extensive loss of wood. Metal retains 75% original thinning blue finish w/ wear & handling marks. Fair, worn bore turning dark. (20-2271/RW). MODERN. 2) Cal. 6.5 Jap. S# 91291. Bbl. 31". Numbers match on receiver, bolt & bayonet lug. Receiver is marked on left side w/ Nagoya Arsenal marking. Mum has been ground, leaving “Type 38” characters. Straight bolt handle w/ oval knob. Checkered, notched safety knob. Aperture ladder rear sight graduated to 2400m. Inverted V front sight w/ protective ears. 29 1/2" Cleaning rod. Hardwood stock set has 2 piece construction & cup type buttplate. Stock has approx. 1 1/2" transverse hole in front of buttplate. CONDITION: stock set has arsenal rework type finish w/ loss of wood, light wear, scratches & handling marks. Metal has been given arsenal rework type blue finish, retaining 85% finish w/ light wear & handling marks. Good shiny bore w/ light wear to lands. (20-2272/RW). CURIO. 3) JAPANESE SMOOTH BORE TRAINING RIFLE. Cal. 6.5 Blank. S# 181. Bbl. 31". Receiver marked only w/ S#. Poorly fitted ladder rear sight is graduated to 1700m. Inverted V front sight. Sight is installed in reverse position. Bolt has straight handle w/ oval knob. Fixed extractor at forward end of bolt. Locking end of left side is shallow. Locking is accomplished by extended bolt handle roof in safety notch. Notched safety knob. Bbl. appears to be fitted into chamber portion w/ loose fit, easily turned by hand. Upper band w/ bayonet lug retained by wood screws. Slotted tip of cleaning rod protrudes from end of forend but appears to be fixed in position. Solid lower band has provision for swivel, which is not present. Band spring is wire type. Follower & mag. spring are not present. Hinged floorplate is functional. Hardwood stock set made w/ out usual 2 piece construction. Flat, stamped buttplate. Butt swivel base w/ out swivel retained by Phillips head screws. CONDITION: stock set has heavily worn finish, flaking, dents & scratches. Handguard retained at rear by brads. Metal has 50% original blue type finish turning patina w/ oxidation & fine pitting throughout. Bore is dark & rough w/ appearance of pitting. (20-2273/RW). CURIO. $700-900.
