3 LATE 19TH CENTURY US MILITARY UNIFORMS.

1) ENLISTED. An example of an enlisted dark blue uniform coat & associated pants likely made between 1883 & the Spanish American War. Coat has 5 buttons down the front & 3 on each sleeve. It has a blue/gray flannel lining & a single interior pocket. Sleeves are lined in muslin. Royal blue pants have a sizing strap in the back & 1 rear pocket on the right. The fly closes w/ 4 tin, 4 hole buttons & the waist secures w/ a similar button. Waist of pants is lined in muslin. CONDITION: coat & pants both are in very solid condition but show some minor mothing throughout.
2) ENLISTED. An example of a corporal’s dark blue uniform coat & associated pants likely made between 1885 & 1910. Coat has 5 general service buttons down the front & at total of 5 cuff buttons on the sleeves from the Massachusetts Agriculture College of Amherst, MA. The sleeve buttons indicate this uniform was likely worn by a military cadet of MAC. Each sleeve has a white corporal’s stripe. Coat is unlined but sleeves have a mattress ticking like lining.
Royal blue pants w/ a white stripe down the outside of each leg. The back has a sizing strap & there are 2 rear & 2 front pockets. The fly closes w/ 4 tin, 4 hole buttons & the waist secures w/ a similar button. Waist of pants is lined in muslin. CONDITION: coat & pants are both in very good condition but they show some minor mothing throughout.
3) OFFICER. An example of a M1895 officer’s uniform. Uniform is of regulation design w/ infantry captain’s shoulder straps on each shoulder. Collar insignia consists of an “N.Y.” & crossed rifles w/ “1” above on each collar. The officer was a captain of the 1st New York Infantry. Royal blue pants w/ a white stripe down the outside of each leg. The back has a sizing strap & there are 2 rear pockets & a watch pocket. The fly closes w/ 4 tin, 2 hole buttons & the waist secures w/ a clip. Waist of pants is lined w/ blue & white cotton.
CONDITION: uniform shows overall light wear w/ generally minor moth damage. (02-15744/BF). $1,000-1,500.
