The model 1913 cavalry sword was designed by General George S. Patton & is commonly referred to as the “Patton sword”. It represents a technological leap forward concentrating on the thrusting power of cavalry rather than the hacking power. 1) Overall length: 43”. Blade length: 35 1/4”. Central fullered blade marked at the ricasso, “S(flaming bomb)A1913” & “US2000” on the other. Sheet steel guard. 2 Piece composite grip. Crosshatched palm rest w/ thumbprint. Iron mounted canvas covered scabbard w/ peg. Scabbard has an attached M1912 picket pin & sheath. CONDITION: blade shows light wear overall but has some evidence of wheel sharpening near the tip. Hilt shows very light wear. Scabbard shows very light wear. Picket pin appears unissued. 2) Overall length: 43”. Blade length: 35 1/4”. Central fullered blade marked at the ricasso, “S(flaming bomb)A1913” & “US2196” on the other. Sheet steel guard that has been cut down & narrowed. 2 Piece composite grip. Crosshatched palm rest w/ thumbprint. Iron mounted canvas covered scabbard w/ peg. CONDITION: blade shows light wear. Hilt has been painted black. Scabbard body has been painted dark green. 3) Overall length: 43”. Blade length: 35 1/4”. Central fullered blade marked at the ricasso, “S(flaming bomb)A1913” & “US5448” on the other. Sheet steel guard. 2 Piece composite grip. Crosshatched palm rest w/ thumbprint. Nickel plated iron company officer’s scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a dull gray finish. Hilt show slight to moderate wear. Scabbard has a few scattered bubbles to the nickel finish. (02-13642(3)/BF). $1,400-1,800.
