3 WWII ERA JAPANESE SWORDS.
1) KATANA. Overall length 37 1/2". Blade length 25 1/2". Blade has a single narrow fuller and is serial numbered "79230" on the spine near the habaki. The edge has a barely perceptible nearly straight temper line. Darkened brass habaki with 4 Japanese characters and crossed flags. There is one seppa above and below the tsuba. Brass tsuba has a stippled field but is otherwise unadorned. Aluminum 1-piece tsuka with integral kabuto-gane. Iron saya with a darkened finish has a single suspension ring. CONDITION: blade has a pleasing light gray patina with no perceptible metal flaws. Tsuba is a bit loose but undamaged. All painted finish has been removed from the tsuka. Finish on the saya is about 50%.
2) KATANA. Overall length 38 1/4". Blade length 27 5/8". Blade has a single narrow fuller and is serial numbered "87709" on the spine near the habaki. There is no visible temper line. Brass habaki. There are no traditional seppa utilized on this katana. Plain oval iron tsuba. Aluminum 1-piece tsuka with integral kabuto-gane. Iron saya is painted dark field green and has a single suspension ring. CONDITION: blade has a dark gray patina with scattered pitting throughout. Tsuba has a dark gray patina. The tsuka retains approx. 40% of its original painted finish. Saya retains 70% of its finish.
3) ARMY DRESS SWORD. Overall length 35 7/8". Blade length 28 7/8". Blade has a single narrow fuller near the spine and is stamped "OKYO JAPAN S A". Gilded brass hilt with 10-petal cherry blossom on the backstrap. Wire wrapped composite grip. Plated scabbard. CONDITION: blade has lost some of its plating. Hilt shows light to moderate wear. Scabbard has also lost areas of plating. (02-18006/BF). $500-700.
