1) Overall length: 14 1/8”. Blade length: 9 3/8”. A fine example of the V-44 survival knife by Case. The bowie style blade has 2 narrow fullers at the top of each side. Blade is marked horizontally near the ricasso, “CASE XX”. Brass crossguard. Black plastic 1 piece grip w/ 3 aluminum rivets on each side. Custom tooled & wrapped brown sheath. CONDITION: blade has a light gray finish w/ minor evidence of sharpening. Grip shows light wear. Sheath shows overall light wear & is stamped on the reverse w/ what appears to be an American saddler’s mark. 2) Overall length: 14”. Blade length: 9 1/8”. An example of the V-44 survival knife by Case. The bowie style blade has 2 narrow fullers at the top of each side. Blade is marked horizontally near the ricasso, “CASE XX”. Brass crossguard. Black plastic 1 piece grip w/ 1 iron rivets & 2 high carbon steel rivets on each side. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a medium to dark gray mottled patina w/ some evidence of sharpening. Guard is a bit misshaped. Grip shows light to moderate wear w/ some minor cracking. 3) Overall length: 13 1/2”. Blade length: 8 7/8”. A scarce example of the V-44 survival knife by Marsden of Australia. The bowie style blade has 2 narrow fullers at the top of each side. Blade is unmarked. Brass crossguard marked on the underside, “MARSDEN PRODUCTS”. 1 Piece black composite grip w/ 3 iron rivets on each side. Brown leather sheath. CONDITION: blade has a dark gray patina w/ heavy sharpening marks. Grip shows moderate wear. Sheath shows light wear. PROVENANCE: Collection of Roger Ballard. (02-14709-6/BF). $900-1,300.
