4 OLD HATS FROM THE SECOND HALF OF THE 19th

CENTURY.
1) A tan felt wide-brim hat with no sweatband or hatband. CONDITION: hat has significant insect damage and discoloration throughout. The hat remains solid though heavily used.
2) A black or dark blue wide-brim hat with no sweatband or hatband. CONDITION: hat shows significant wear with losses to the brim and breaks at the crown. The outside of the hat is significantly more faded than the underside.
3) A black or dark blue wide-brim hat with no sweatband or hatband. CONDITION: hat has been crushed for many years and retains its flattened shape. Hat is extremely dirty with some insect damage and breaks in the crown.
4) A black or dark blue wide-brim hat with grosgrain edging on the brim and a grosgrain hatband. There is a bone button sewn to the inside & outside of the right side of the hat. There is no sweatband, though the remains of stitching are present. A black ostrich feather has been mounted on the right side of the hat. CONDITION: the hat is extremely worn with fading primarily to the outside of the hat. There is visible damage from insect infestations and the grosgrain is faded & deteriorated.
