1) M1913 PATTON SABER. Overall length: 43 3/4". Blade length: 35". Blade has a single central fuller and is marked at the ricasso "US 19878" & "S (flaming bomb) A 1914". Black finished, sheet iron guard with iron pommel & crosshatched backstrap. Backstrap has a thumb indentation near the ferrule. 2-Piece crosshatched grip also finished black. Tan cotton canvas covered scabbard with blackened iron mounts. CONDITION: sword shows light wear overall. 2) M1852 NAVY OFFICER. Overall length: 40 1/4". Blade length: 34". A post-WWII version of the Naval officer's dress sword. Blade has a single small fuller and is etched over the first 16 1/2" with various nautical, patriotic & foliate devices, including an unengraved 3 1/4" panel. Gilded brass hilt with dolphin quillon & pierced guard adorned by the letters "USN". Simulated white sharkskin grip with wire wrap. Hilt has an unofficial sword knot attached. Gilded brass mounted leather scabbard. CONDITION: sword shows very light wear overall. 3) M1902 OFFICER'S SABER. Overall length: 38 1/2". Blade length: 32". Blade has a single medium fuller and is etched over 17" of its length with various military, foliate, patriotic, and geometric devices. The ricasso is stamped "PROVED" in a circle and "RIDABOCH & CO NEW-YORK FRANCE". Plated brass hilt. Horn, formed grip. Plated scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a light gray finish with minor staining. Hilt has some loss of plating. Grip is a bit faded. Scabbard also has minor loss of plating. 4) M1902 OFFICER'S SABER. Overall length: 37". Blade length: 30 1/2". Blade has a single medium fuller and is etched over 22" of its length with various military, foliate, and patriotic motifs, including a panel that reads "Thos. J. Patterson". The ricasso is etched "BROOKS UNIFORM CO NEW YORK N.Y.". Plated brass hilt. Composite, formed grip. Plated scabbard. CONDITION: blade has minor staining and one notable nick. Hilt & scabbard show light wear overall. There is a small rusted area on the drag. PROVENANCE: From the estate collection of Thomas J. Mulligan. (02-19734-2/BF). $700-1,100.
