4 US INDIAN WAR TO SPANISH AMERICAN WAR UNIFORMS.
1) 1902 DRESS COAT. A fine example of an M1902 dress uniform for a quartermaster sergeant of infantry w/ 28 years of service. The standard blue 1902 coat is trimmed in white & has post 1903 buttons on the front & sleeves. Each sleeve has a quartermaster sergeant stripes featuring 3 white chevrons above a gold quartermaster insignia above laurel leaves. The base of each sleeve has 6 white service stripes above a single yellow service stripe denoting 4 years of service in the cavalry prior to his 24 years of service in the infantry. A white wool aiguillette adorns the front of the coat. Lining is black. Sleeve lining is gray. The right sleeve lining has the name, “Reissman” penned into it. CONDITION: light wear overall. 2) M1872 DRESS COAT. A nice example of an M1872 dress uniform for a quartermaster sergeant w/ 12 years of total service. The standard blue 1872 coat is trimmed w/ buff collar, shoulder tabs, tail trim & sleeve placards. The body of the coat & the trim are piped in white. There are 9 staff buttons down the front & 6 total on the tail. There are 3 cuff buttons on each sleeve & 1 at each collar tab. Each sleeve has silver & gold bullion quartermaster sergeant stripes along w/ 2 service stripes backed in blue & 1 backed in red showing prior service in the artillery. Padded lining of white muslin w/ the tails lined in black. Sleeves are lined in an off white muslin material. CONDITION: light wear overall. 3) M1881 UNIFORM. A good example of an M1881 US enlisted artillery uniform coat. Coat is dark blue piped in red w/ red collar, shoulder tabs & sleeve placards. There are 8 Indian War era enlisted eagle buttons down the front. There are 3 enlisted eagle cuff buttons on each sleeve & 1 on the left shoulder tab. The right example is missing. Coat is lined in quilted cotton & the sleeves are lined in a similar material. CONDITION: coat shows scattered moth damage. 4) NAVAL OFFICER’S DRESS COAT. A dark blue navy captain’s coatee featuring 4 gold bullion stripes at each sleeve & a gold bullion collar. There are bullion tabs at the shoulders to hold epaulettes. The dbl. breasted coat has 8 buttons down each side. There are no buttons on the sleeves or tails. There is a tag on the inside collar that reads, “RUSSELL UNIFORM COMPANY NEW YORK”. Black partially quilted lining w/ striped cotton sleeve linings. Tail of coatee is lined w/ a white silk like material. CONDITION: coat shows very minor moth damage w/ several loose threads. Tail & collar lining are a bit stained. (02-14342(4)/BF). $800-1,200.
