4 WWI GERMAN SPIKE HELMETS & 2 HELMET COVERS.

1) PRUSSIAN. A nice example of a Prussian enlisted infantry spike helmet. Body of the helmet is black leather with gray metal posts, eagle, trim & spike. Chinstrap appears to be replaced, however the hardware is original. There is a Prussian kokard on the right side & a National kokard on the left side. Black finished 9 tongue leather liner. Interior has illegible owner's name. Rear visor has several unit markings. CONDITION: helmet shows light to moderate overall wear & remains quite solid. There are 2 sets of holes in the front of the helmet.
2) PRUSSIAN. A very good example of a Prussian enlisted infantry spike helmet. Body of the helmet is black leather with gray metal posts, eagle, trim & spike. Chinstrap is original to the helmet. There is a Prussian kokard on the right side & a National kokard on the left side. Black finished 10 tongue leather liner. Rear visor has the remains of unit markings. CONDITION: helmet shows light to moderate overall wear & remains quite solid. There is 1 set of holes in the front of the helmet.
3) BAVARIAN. A nice example of a Bavarian enlisted spike helmet. Body of the helmet is black leather with brass posts, front plate, trim & spike. Chinstrap is original but has iron buckles & post attachments. There is a Bavarian kokard on the left side & a National kokard on the right side. We suspect the kokards are non-contemporary replacements. Black finished 9 tongue leather liner. Rear visor has the remains of unit markings. CONDITION: helmet shows light to moderate overall wear. The front visor stitching is detached. There are some minor losses to the ends of the tongue liner. There is 1 set of holes in the front of the helmet.
4) BAVARIAN. A nice example of a Bavarian enlisted spike helmet. Body of the helmet is black leather with brass posts, front plate, trim & spike. Chinstrap is original with brass buckles & post attachments. There is a Bavarian kokard on the left side & a National kokard on the right side. Black finished 9 tongue leather liner. Rear visor has the remains of unit markings. CONDITION: helmet shows light to moderate overall wear & remains quite solid. There is 1 set of holes in the front of the helmet.
5) COVER. A field green spike helmet cover with an open hole to the spike & sewn openings for the side posts. There are 5 metal clips to secure it to the base of the helmet. The side openings are backed with leather. No markings are apparent. CONDITION: light wear overall.
6) COVER. A light tan/green spike helmet cover with a top spike cover secured by 4 pieces of sewn cloth tape. Base of cover stretches on the sides & has reinforced front & black flaps. 1 Flap is marked "D.R.P.". CONDITION: light wear overall. (02-16342-2/BF). $1,600-2,200.
