4 WWII GERMAN HATS.

1) ARMY AFRIKA CORPS. A 1st model Afrika Corps Wehrmacht canvas pith helmet. Tan canvas body with Wehrmacht shield on the left and national colors on the right. Leather edged base with leather chinstrap and sweatband. Red felt liner with interior top vent. CONDITION: helmet is in near relic condition. It is exceptionally dirty and most of the edging at the base has deteriorated. Chinstrap is broken but present. Sweatband shows flexing and flaking. Lining is quite dirty.
2) ARMY AFRIKA CORPS. A 2nd model Afrika Corps Wehrmacht felt pith helmet. Green felt body with Wehrmacht shield on the left and national colors on the right. Green leather edged base and green leather chinstrap. Tan leather sweatband marked, "M" in a shield. A paper size tag "58" is attached to the sweatband. Red felt liner with interior top vent. CONDITION: helmet is quite dirty and somewhat misshaped. Chinstrap and edging are complete. Sweatband shows light wear. Vent is oxidized.
3) SA LAGERMUTZE. A fine and scarce example of an SA garrison side cap also called a lagermutze. Green/brown wool body with a yellow cotton triangle on the left side. Mounted on the triangle is a gold washed SA eagle. The front has a single gold pebble finished button. The interior has 2 ink stamps with the SA symbol and "J1" below in a rectangle. There is also a sewn in RZM tag that reads, "DIENSTMUTZE Herstellerfirma Nr. 45(ink stamp) Verkaufsstelle Nr. Reichszeugmeisterel der N.S.D.A.P. 127161(ink stamp)". The owner's name is also written on the RZM tag but is illegible. Lining is olive drab cotton. CONDITION: hat shows light overall wear with just a trace of mothing.
4) RAD. A good example of an RAD service cap commonly called a "Robin Hood" cap. Body is green/brown wool with silver piping throughout. There is a dark brown band with a red, white & black enamel spade and wheat RAD insignia on the front. Brown leather sweatband. Gold colored rayon lining with a large elaborate maker's mark that reads, "FR. BEURIGER KAISERSLAUTERN". CONDITION: hat shows a trace of moth damage. The interior has significant sweat stains. Visor is a bit misshaped. (02-17101/BF). $900-1,300.
