3’ x 4’ double applique embroidered on scarlet red field, the regulation color for engineer units since 1872, white fringed, circa 1948-1957. The origination of this command was the 1266th Engineer Combat Battalion which was created in early February 1944 and activated in late March at Camp Bowie in Texas. This battalion served in Europe in WW2 and after returning home as deactivated at Camp Gruber, Oklahoma in November 1945. On February 26, 1947 the unit became part of the Organized Reserves of the U.S. Army. The Army Reserves and the National Guard constitute the reserve units of the Army. On March 14, 1947, the unit was activated in Memphis, Tennessee. In late March 1948, the Organized Reserves were redesignated as the Organized Reserve Corps and then in July 1952, the name was changed to the Army Reserve. In early June 1948, the battalion was reflagged as the 467th Engineer Combat Battalion but in November 1949 the reorganized unit was redesignated as the 467th Engineer Aviation Battalion with a corresponding change in mission profile. However, this was altered back to the 467th Engineer Battalion in January 1957. The battalion served the Army Reserve until January 1958 when it was deactivated. Reactivated in 1976, the 467th Engineer battalion remains part of the U.S. Army Reserve today and is still based out of Millington, Tennessee.
