FRANFORD ARSENAL & UNMARKED PERCUSSION CONVERSION MUSKETS. 1) SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1861. Cal. 58. NSN. Bbl. 40". 1864 Dated lock. 3 Band stock w/ iron fittings & replacement ramrod. CONDITION: exterior shows heavy rust & pitting. Stock shows heavy wear w/ lg. chips, dents, gouges, wood erosion & cracks. Nipple is hammered flat. Rear sight is removed. Dark rusty bore. 2) SPRINGFIELD 1861. Cal. 45. NSN. Bbl. 33" tapered rnd. replacement marked "NUMRICH ARMS / HOPKINS & ALLEN / W. HURLEY, N.Y.". 1863 Dated lock. Walnut stock has iron fittings & shortened to 2 band. Slotted tipped ramrod. CONDITION: bbl. retains 60% faded blue showing scattered light pitting. Lock shows scattered pitting. Stock has dark worn appearance w/ scratches, dents, chips & sm. cracks. Bore retains strong rifling. 3) E. WHITNEY MODEL 1841 US. Cal. 54. NSN. Bbl. 33" w/ fixed sights. 2 Band walnut stock w/ brass fittings. Brass tipped iron ramrod. CONDITION: metal parts show heavy pitting. Stock shows wear w/ numerous dents, handling marks & cracks. Trigger guard is broken off of trigger plate. Patch box lid is bent & wont latch. Trigger is bent. Dark rusty bore. 4) UNMARKED. Cal. 40. NSN. Bbl. 31" oct. w/ Rocky Mountain front sight w/ 2 leaf rear sight. Unmarked boxlock action w/ dbl. set triggers. Walnut buttstock w/ crescent steel buttplate. CONDITION: heavily pitted metal showing evidence of cleaning. Hammer is broken w/ replacement brass screw. Action has no spring tension. Nipple is hammered flat. Stock is stripped showing handling marks w/ crack right of trigger plate. Dark heavily pitted bore. 5) AUSTRIAN LORENZ. Cal. 58. NSN. Bbl. 37 1/4" rnd. w/ oct. shank & smooth bore. Blade front sight w/ folding leaf rear sight. Unmarked lock. Stock is cut to 2 band configuration. Iron fittings. Ramrod is missing. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: socket bayonet. CONDITION: metal has dark appearance w/ general heavy pitting. Stock shows heavy & broken at head w/ screw type repair. Nipple is hammer flat. Dark heavily pitted bore. (01-18233 (5)/DS). 6) FRANKFORD ARSENAL. cal. 69. NSN. Bbl. 42" rifled. Front sight is ground flat, rear sight is missing. Remington mfg. lock w/ Maynard tape primer feed mechanism. Bbl. & lock are dated 1857. 3 Band walnut stock w/ iron fittings & iron tipped ramrod. Remington supplied 20,000 locks to Frankford Arsenal for conversion 1856-1858. CONDITION: bbl. has faded to brown patina w/ surface corrosion & spots of heavy pitting. Lock has dark appearance w/ spots of pitting w/ repaired hammer & does not fully seat in the stock. Stock has dark worn appearance w/ dents, scratches & marks having 1 1/8" added wood repair behind rear bbl. band. Center bbl. band is replacement. Dark pitted bore. 7) UNMARKED 1840. cal. 69. NSN. Bbl. shortened to 40 1/2". Walnut stock w/ iron fittings. Left side of stock has hand carved initials "THHA". CONDITION: metal shows corrosion w/ deep pitting in breech & lock areas. Mid bbl. band & ramrod area not present. Buttplate is removed w/ stock behind rounded off having a triangular shaped wood repair. Dark heavily pitted bore. (01-18258 (2)/DS). ALL ANTIQUE. $550-1,000.
