5 PRE WWII US OFFICERS FULL DRESS VISOR CAPS.

1) ARTILLERY. A 1920s-30s full dress hat for a company grade artillery officer. Black crown w/ gold bullion bordered red band. It features a lg. embroidered gold bullion, officer’s eagle on the front w/ a gold bullion chinstrap & Army side buttons. Sweatshield reads in part, “Basch Cap Company Boston, Mass.”. CONDITION: hat generally shows very light wear.
2) INFANTRY. A 1930s full dress hat for a field grade infantry officer. Black crown w/ gold bullion bordered light blue band. It features a lg. embroidered gold bullion, officer’s eagle on the front w/ a gold bullion chinstrap & Army side buttons. Visor has gold bullion embroidered oak leaves & acorns. Interior reads, “JACOBS REEDS SONS FOUNDED 1824 PHILADELPHIA”. This hat is identified to John Abram Cutchins who was a member of the Richmond Light Infantry Blues of Richmond, Virginia. He became a captain upon deployment to the Mexican border in 1916. He was part of the 29th Division of the American Expeditionary Force in WWI. He later served on the staff of General Blackjack Pershing. During subsequent service in the National Guard he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. CONDITION: hat generally shows very light wear.
3) MEDICAL. A 1930s full dress hat for a field grade medical officer. Black crown w/ gold bullion bordered maroon & white band. It features a lg. gold gilded officer’s eagle on the front w/ a gold bullion chinstrap & Army side buttons. Visor has gold bullion embroidered oak leaves & acorns. Sweatshield reads in part, “N.S. MEYER, INC. NEW YORK”. CONDITION: hat generally shows very light wear.
4) ARTILLERY. A WWI to 1920s full dress hat for a company grade artillery officer. Black crown w/ gold bullion bordered red band. It features a lg. embroidered gold bullion, officer’s eagle on the front w/ a gold bullion chinstrap & Army side buttons. Interior markings read, “H.V. ALLIEN & CO. 734 BROADWAY NEW YORK.”. CONDITION: hat shows light wear w/ some crazing to the visor.
5) ARMY. A 1930s dress hat for a field grade Army officer. White crown w/ a white band. It features a gold gilded American officer’s eagle insignia on the front w/ a gold bullion chinstrap & Army side buttons. Visor has gold bullion embroidered oak leaves & acorns. No interior markings. CONDITION: hat shows light wear w/ a few very minor rubs on the band. (02-15769/BF). $800-1,000.
