5 WWI & WWII AMERICAN & BRITISH HELMETS.
1) M5 HELMET. The M5 Flak helmet was utilized by the USAAF in WWII. It became necessary to provide more protection to bomber crews than a leather flight helmet could provide. This example has a white painted body w/ a well worn red “B C” on the front. The ear flaps are both painted red w/ the name “John” on each flap. Leather & OD cotton web lining. CONDITION: paint shows some wear & there are scattered areas of oxidation. Liner is intact & functional. (02-13967/BF). 2) 2 WWII US M1 HELMETS WITH NETTING. 2 WWII fixed bail, front seam helmets. 1 Helmet has a WWII period liner, the other has a Korean War era liner. Both helmets have a net covering. CONDITION: WWII example has a circular oxidized area on the front & back where it appears that an insignia was scraped off & the helmet finish was removed. Felt lined, leather, lace up liner that covers the ears & is secured w/ a leather chinstrap.
