6 CIVIL WAR ERA PHOTOGRAPHS.

1) CDV. A chest up view of Stonewall Jackson in his general's uniform. Back mark on the CDV reads, "LARCOMBE PHOTOGRAPHIST, No. 25 Public Square, (COLLEGE ST.) Nashville, Tenn.". CONDITION: CDV shows minor discoloration only.
2) CDV. A mid-chest up view of Robert E. Lee in his general's uniform. There is no backmark however the front does read, "GEN. R. E. LEE, C. S. A". CONDITION: CDV shows minor staining and slight fading.
3) AMBROTYPE. A 9th plate ambrotype of a lower chest up view of a somewhat disheveled enlisted soldier, possibly Confederate, with gold tinted buttons on his coat & vest. Ambrotype is housed in a paperboard case that reads on the inside, "Sam Samuels during the Civil War of 1861-1865". CONDITION: image is a bit faded with some losses to the periphery.
4) TINTYPE. A 9th plate tintype of a waist up view of an officer wearing a shell jacket with gold tinted jacket & cuff buttons along with a little gold tinting on the collar. Tintype is housed in a paperboard case with writing on the paper that reads "Lt. C" & the remaining inscription is illegible. CONDITION: image remains reasonably sharp with some oxidation at the edges.
5) TINTYPE. A 6th plate tintype of 3 gentlemen, 2 of whom have large, floppy straw hats. 1 Is seated & 2 are standing. Image is housed in a paperboard case with a silvered cross attached to the pillow. CONDITION: image remains reasonably sharp but does have some dimpling.
6) TINTYPE. A CDV sized tintype with a standing view of a cavalryman wearing a shell jacket. Details are difficult to discern so he may be Confederate, or more likely Union. He is wearing a wide brim hat typical of those adapted for cavalry use. Image is held in a gray painted wooden easel frame. CONDITION: image has some dimpling with an area of emulsion loss that does not affect the soldier's image. (02-17474/BF). $500-800.
