Sonora Desert Hunts
New to the SCI Michigan Chapter, Angel Vargas with Sonora Desert Hunts is offering a 6-day Desert Mule deer hunt for 2 hunters. At Sonora Desert Hunts, their mission is to provide unforgettable hunting experiences in the stunning landscapes of Sonora. They are dedicated to ensuring that every hunter, whether novice or expert, finds their perfect adventure with us. Included in this hunt are two Desert Mule deer tags (1 per hunter). You will be hunting premier free-range ranches in Sonora, Mexico looking for that giant buck averaging 180–200+ SCI, with potential for 220+ inch class. Hunting will be conducted via spot-and-stalk / safari-style from vehicles and on foot. Season: December – January (peak rut activity mid-January). Hunt must be used in 2026-2027 season or 2027-2028 season. Tags are guaranteed through outfitter with no lottery or draw system required. Preferred weapons are rifle (.270, .300 Win Mag, 7mm, etc.) with shot distances typically around 150–350 yards (longer possible depending on terrain). Archery is also available for experienced bowhunters. Hunt may also be upgraded to include Desert Big Horn ($75,000) per hunter & Coues deer ($7,500) per hunter. Additional Desert Mule Deer hunters can also be added for ($17,500) per hunter & non-hunters @ ($500) per day/per person. Included: Full ground transportation in Sonora, from airport pickup to ranch access; comfortable lodging in fully equipped ranch houses or desert camps; all meals, snacks, soft drinks, and bottled water; bilingual, professional guides with optics and field experience; field caping, trophy preparation, and meat care; hunting license, tags, and export assistance; all Mexican legal documentation and firearm importation help if needed. Not Included: flights to Hermosillo or other arrival airport; staff gratuities (guides, cooks, drivers); alcoholic beverages (can be prearranged); trophy export/taxidermy/shipping (coordinated separately if needed). Their hunts meet SCI entry standards and are conducted under fair chase principles. They only operate on well-managed private ranches where conservation, habitat health, and trophy quality are top priorities. Booking & prime dates: Desert Mule deer tags are guaranteed, and demand is high due to trophy quality and limited access.
