Unguided 2018 – Colorado Elk Hunt
RV Robertson of High Plains Drift Inn has donated a six day, unguided elk hunt with rifle or bow for one hunter in GMU 80-81, home to one of the largest elk populations in the world. The hunt can be taken in 2018 or 2019.
High Plains takes a different approach. They are not a guide service but rather supply hunters with a lodge, meals and an elk hunting support team. They take care of cooking your meals, making your bed building your fires and if you wish, they will steer you to where the elk are. You will enjoy a warm comfortable bed and hot shower each night and an all-you-can eat breakfast and dinner each day as well as a packed lunch.
Day 1 of your trip you will arrive and be treated to a full seminar to educate you about the area and the habits of the local herd as well as techniques that have proven effective over the 50 years they have been in operation. You then have time to visit their archery or rifle range to check your weapon. Next you enjoy 5 full days of hunting and check out on the morning of the seventh day. If you tag out early, there is world class fishing nearby. This is a fantastic opportunity for the new DIY hunter or the well experienced.
