This is not a typical SA package hunt.
Offered exclusively at the Safari Club International Las Vegas Chapter Banquet, this 7-day STS Meletse safari—cannot be replicated by calling around South Africa. It exists because of relationships, restraint, and intentional limitation—created for hunters who value authenticity over availability.
A True Kalahari Conservancy Hunt
STS Meletse is an 88,000-acre open Kalahari conservancy limited to only 3-6 clients per year total—not per week, not per month, per season.
• Sole access for your party
• No overlapping safaris
• No competing vehicles
• No staged encounters
Game moves freely between the Kuruman riverbed and Molopo River, across red dunes, open flats, and ancient camel-thorn forests. Tracking is done on spoor, guided by indigenous trackers with generational knowledge. This is malaria-free Africa—raw, quiet, and honest.

Trophy-Class Plains Game — Earned, Not Grown
Naturally raised, genetically pure, free-range animals that earned their size through age, survival, and minimal hunting pressure. This is as close to wild Africa in South Africa as it gets—not animals grown for harvest, but animals shaped by time and terrain.

Guided the Traditional Way
Your hunt is led by Professional Hunter Johan Maritz, with exclusive access to STS Meletse and trackers who read the Kalahari like a living book. Success is not pre-arranged—it is earned on foot, on spoor, in silence. Two SCI Las Vegas Chapter board members hunted with Johan in October and are discussing joining the winning bidder—an endorsement louder than any brochure.

Mokala Lodge — Comfort Without Pretense
Refined colonial-style comfort set among the dunes: en-suite, air-conditioned rooms; central dining, lounge & bar; pool; internet; dune-top sundowners; traditional South African cuisine. TRAVEL- Fly to Johannesburg, overnight then onto either a private landing strip on the Conservatory or pickup from Upington Airport.

Cape Buffalo Options — For Those Who Know the Difference
• Bull Upgrade: $12,850 (normally $14,500) — hard-bossed bulls, many 44+ inches
• Cow: $2,800 (normally $3,500)
Over 150 free-roaming buffalo—wary, seasoned, Rowland Ward–class animals. True Kalahari buffalo, not typical SA drive-and-shoot.

Optional Extension: Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park
Just 5 km from the STS Meletse gate.
• 2-day guided extension under $2,000 with PH Johan Maritz
• Renowned daylight sightings of black-maned Kalahari lions, leopard, and cheetah

Optional Add-On: Custom Private Kalahari Balloon Safari
A dawn ascent over endless red dunes of Kgalagadi Park—silent, cinematic, unforgettable. Available as a 2 day extension including an overnight stay at one of the 2 renowned park lodges. All meals drinks included. It is a bucket-list complement to the grounded, hands-on tracking and hunting — bringing a breathtaking visual dimension to your adventure, this is professional ballooning veteran that only does these trips for Johan Maritz clients. Cost $2,000 per person.

Why This Matters
Opportunities like this do not scale. They do not repeat often. And they are disappearing in South Africa. You are not bidding on a hunt. You are securing entry into a shrinking and normally very expensive circle.

*Meet Johan Maritz — a true Kalahari native, born and raised among its vast, breathtaking landscapes. Growing up on a sheep and cattle farm, the bush was both his playground and his classroom. Long days were spent learning the rhythms of the land, reading tracks in the sand, and understanding wildlife in a way only the Kalahari can teach. From a young age, armed with a trusty .22 Brno rifle and a loyal Jack Russell at his side, Johan’s future was already taking shape.

A deep-rooted love for nature guided his path from the very beginning. He thrives on the challenges of hunting, fully aware that every species demands its own strategy, patience, and respect—making each hunt a distinctive and rewarding experience. For Johan, hunting is never just about the pursuit; it’s about understanding the environment, honoring the animal, and embracing the lessons the veld offers.

Renowned for his sharp sense of humor, Johan brings laughter wherever he goes. Whether around the fire or out in the field, he’s always ready with a well-timed joke and is known to have an impressive array of bush tricks up his sleeve. His calm confidence, shaped by years of experience, makes him a natural leader and trusted companion in the wild.

When the day draws to a close, Johan’s favorite “television show” begins—the one at camp. With his feet near the fire, flames dancing in the night, and stories shared under a starlit Kalahari sky, there’s no place he’d rather be. For Johan, guiding international clients is not just about delivering a successful hunt, but about creating lasting memories and an authentic African experience they will never forget. For him, this is not just a profession but a way of life.

Africa. Pure. Unfiltered. Unrepeatable.
