7 FINE REVOLUTIONARY WAR TO 1816 ERA SOCKET

BAYONETS.
1) REVOLUTIONARY WAR. Overall length: 19 7/8". Blade length: 15 1/4". A superb example of an early American made socket bayonet from the Revolutionary War or before. Exceptionally lg. socket measuring 3" in length & lap seamed near the top. The width of the blade at the elbow is 1 1/4". Crude hand forging is apparent throughout. CONDITION: bayonet is very solid for its age w/ no major defects.
2) REVOLUTIONARY WAR. Overall length: 16 5/8". Blade length: 13 1/2". A fine example of an American made socket bayonet from the Revolutionary War or a few years before. Socket measures 2 7/8" in length. The blade has an elliptical shank at the end of the neck that is soldered to the socket. The width of the blade at the elbow is slightly over 7/8 of an inch. Hand forging is apparent throughout. CONDITION: bayonet has a dark patina but shows no major defects.
3) REVOLUTIONARY WAR. Overall length: 15 15/16". Blade length: 12 1/2". An American made Revolutionary War era to 1795 socket bayonet. Socket measures 2 3/4" in length. There is an 8 pointed mullet stamped on the face of the blade. The width of the blade at the elbow is 1 1/16". Hand forging is apparent but more refined. CONDITION: blade has a dark overall patina & has a slight bend upward to the blade.
4) REVOLUTIONARY WAR. Overall length: 17". Blade length: 13 1/2". An American made copy of a Brown Bess bayonet from the Revolutionary War period. Socket measures 2 3/4" in length. The width of the blade at the elbow is 1 1 1/6". Hand forging is apparent on the socket w/ early file marks visible on the flat of the blade. CONDITION: bayonet has a medium gray to dark patina & is exceptionally solid.
5) REVOLUTIONARY WAR. Overall length: 14 1/8". Blade length: 11 1/2". The bayonet socket is 2 1/4" in length & is cut at a slight angle at the end of the socket. There is a stamp in front of the mortis that appears to read, “H K” w/ a “U” stamped between the H & the K. The width of the blade at the elbow is 15/16". Hand forging is apparent but somewhat refined. CONDITION: bayonet has an overall dark patina w/ no damage.
6) POST REVOLUTIONARY WAR. Overall length: 18 9/16". Blade length: 15 1/4". This is likely a post Revolutionary War bayonet that could have been mfg. through the War of 1812. The socket measures 2 15/16" in length. “US” is stamped on the flat of the neck. Blade width at the neck is 1". CONDITION: bayonet has an overall dark patina w/ no significant flaws.
7) M1816. Overall length: 16 3/8". Blade length: 13 1/16". A classic example of an M1816 US bayonet. Socket measures 3" in length. Blade width at the neck is 15/16". Flat of blade is stamped, “US / E / L / O”. CONDITION: blade has a dark overall patina w/ no major flaws. (02-15642/BF). $700-1,100.
