CORPS" PRESENTED TO MAJOR GENERAL GEORGE G. MEADE. This book was written by J.R. Sypher Esquire, Esq. and published by Elias Barr & Co. in 1865 at Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The book has a period inscription on the first page that reads "To Maj. Gen. Geo. G. Meade with compliments of The Author". This book was undoubtedly presented to General Meade in recognition of his role as Division Commander of the Pennsylvania Reserves early in the war. The importance of this volume is enhanced by the handwritten annotations & corrections made by General Meade regarding the Gettysburg Campaign. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: an information card relating to the book and its history. CONDITION: the book remains quite solid with some abrasions to the leather binding and slight losses at the corners. The pages have yellowed a bit with age, but the print is easily legible. Engravings are present and quite clear.
