SN: 91028 'Best Quality' Spectacular side-by-side sidelock double rifle & double barrel shotgun, factory two barrel set with .458/.458 Win Mag & 12/12 gauge barrels. Made in Liege, Belgium circa 1972 by Auguste Francotte, one of the oldest of the world's few fine gunmakers. Features a coin finished long tang receiver with stunning Germanic scroll engraving accented with contrasting fire blued & gold plated pins/screw heads, hand detachable sidelocks, selective automatic ejectors, concealed third fastener, blued 26" chopper-lump .458 barrels with quarter rib fitted with one standing & two folding leaf express sights, ramped bead top blade front sight with pivoting hood & flip-up glooming sight(appears to be set with a gem), claw mounted Redfield 1-4x scope with duplex reticle, bushed firing pins, double triggers with front trigger articulated, sliding tang safety, knurled top lever, sling swivel studs, point checkered extra fancy walnut semi-beavertail forend with Anson release and pistol grip shoulder stock with drop points, trapdoor grip cap containing a spare front sight, beaded right handed cheekpiece and Old English recoil pad. The ribs on both barrels are marked "RIFLE RANCH IMPORTER PRESCOTT ARIZ-USA" and both sets of barrels have been masterfully refinished after the marking were applied. Includes a pigskin wrapped locking trunk case with partitioned interior lined in forest green velvet. Case contains cleaning paraphernalia, keys, spare strikers, shooting gloves, nine hand loaded .458 Win Mag cartridges with 500 grain soft-point bullets and 28" 12/12 gauge barrels with matted solid rib, full/improved cylinder fixed chokes, 2 3/4" chambers & semi-beavertail forend. Also includes notes from Jim Wilkinson, one detailing that this arm took "2 1/2 yrs. to make". Rifle exhibits a semi-bright superficial scratch on the left sideplate from the screw lever and some wear on the sides of the rear express sight from being placed. Action is tight, the bores are pristine, optics are sharp and the satin finished wood stocks are extra fine.
