SOME MINOR PARTS. Cal. 50. S# 11995. These carbines were issued to many cavalry regiments during the Civil War, over 30,000 were produced. It has 21 1/2" half round, half octagon barrel with ladder type rear sight. Case hardended boxlock type action is fitted wtih saddle ring and bar on left and has patent, agents and manufacturing markings on left side. Walnut buttstock has "JJC" inspectors mark on left of grip "L.P.R." is on barrel. CONDITION: very fine but missing minor parts. Barrel and action retaining over 90% original finish with some scattered light freckling. Stock has some minor marks. Buttplate is mostly turned to brown as has barrel band. Locking spring and trigger guard retain over 90% original blue. Bore is dark and lightly pitted. Carbine is missing action stirrup, action to barrel hinge screw, hammer screw and 2 trigger guard screws. (01-21790/MGM). ANTIQUE. $1,000-2,000.
