A H Fox Gun Co Sterlingworth Side by Side Shotgun 12 ga Vintage

Condition on this Shotgun is poor - a 2/10 but it appears tight and could be made servicable.

The gun has a number behind the trigger guard of 91168 (in a script-style, not regular
numbers stamped) and the following stamped down the tops of the two barrels:
Sterlingworth Fluid Compressed Steel on one barrel and Made by AH Fox Gun Co.
Phila. PA U.S.A on th eother.

Bluing is all gone and barrels are tarnished inside and out. Barrels are 30 inches long

Wood stock has cracks behind receiver and has a repair on one side too. Stock is
a little loose too. Foregrip is sound with no cracks.
Safety does not deploy - We recommend that this gun not be fired.

Sterlingworth -- When Ansley H. Fox, was forced to add a lower priced gun to his line
of graded Ansley H. Fox guns, in 1910, he didn't want to detract from the A.H. Fox
Gun Co. name, so they dummied up The Sterlingworth Company.
The first year's guns, beginning with serial number 50,000, were marked as being
Made By The Sterlingworth Company, Philadelphia, U.S.A
They even produced a separate The Sterlingworth Gun Co. catalogue for 1910.
These guns were built under the same patents as the graded Ansley H. Fox guns.

So dating this gun actualy is difficult as its 91,000 range but still states made by AH Fox
This means it might be a AH Fox unit and not the less expensive Sterlingworth made
firearm.
