A HISTORIC WWII GERMAN POLITICAL DISTRICT BANNER

CAPTURED BY “H” COMPANY OF THE 3RD PLATOON NEAR THE RHINE. This exceptionally historic banner is for Ortsgruppe Kapellen, a political district of the N.S.D.A.P. The banner measures 55" x 50", which includes a 1 1/2" silver bullion border on 3 sides. It has a 35" diameter white disc in the center with a black sewn party symbol in the center. The upper left corner has a 6 3/4" x 9 1/4" blue bordered brown rectangle that reads “N.S.D.A.P. Ortsgruppe Kapellen Ersst”. When this banner was captured by American troops nearing the Rhine River the members of “H” Company wrote their names around the flag. The banner reads “TAKEN NEAR THE RHINE H CO 3RD PLATOON MARCH 4, 1945 SOUVENIR OF GERMANY”. The members names are all on the banner in 4 columns titled “PLATOON HEADQUARTERS, 1st SECT, 2nd SECT, & 3rd SECT”. CONDITION: the banner is in very solid condition with no notable tears or losses. The ink used to sign the banner has run somewhat into the edges but the names and titles remain quite clear. A wonderful piece of WWII history. (02-17984/BF). $3,000-5,000.
